Programme Overview
At UCLAM, we take pride in the unique programmes and events we offer to our members
Finance Bootcamp
This is by far our most popular programme. Spanning 8 weeks throughout term 1, the bootcamp introduces essential accounting, finance, and modelling concepts to our members. It assumes no prior knowledge in the disciple and is designed to spark further interest in finance.
Week 1: Introduction to Finance & Investing
Week 2: CAPM and Modern Portfolio Theory
Week 3: Three Statement Accounting and Financial Ratios
Week 4: Valuation Foundations & Relative Valuation
Week 5: Financial Statements Forecasting and DCF Modeling
Week 6: Qualitative Investment Analysis
Week 7: How to make the perfect investment pitch
Week 8: Stock Pitch Competition (and selection of junior analysts)
The UCLAM Fund
Each week, investment meetings begin with a markets update. Teams present the key events, narratives, and earning releases that drove the market in the past week. These updates are used to inspire new research ideas and inform investment decisions at the fund.
Analysts work together to craft stock pitches based on sound fundamental and quantitative evidence. We conduct bottom-up research to ensure the companies we invest in have quality earnings while taking in consideration macro headwinds or tailwinds. Analysts are also given the opportunity to build and strengthen their modelling skills by producing detailed revenue builds and DCF models.
Recruitment & Networking Events
We have held networking events with buy-side firms including EQT Exeter (top European private equity firm), I Squared Capital (leading infrastructure investor), and Verition (multi-manager hedge fund).
